Life in the Fast Lane

What up Peeps,

Please let me apologize for not blogging-it-up more over the past few months, but I have been focusing on growing, speaking gibberish, being adorable, and busting two lower buck teeth through my gums to light any literary fires. The good news is that there is plenty to talk about, so let’s hope this entry is like Aspen, where the beer flows like wine (I have already seen Dumb and Dumber six times).

First off, summer is the worst season ever. Since I was born in November, I can now say that I have experienced all four seasons and I declare, under Camilla Resolution 1.1b, that summer is the worst season of all. Part of this is a result of my parents buying a historical home without central air. Sure, the house has tons of character and the location is optimal, but Really?!?…what were they thinking? The windows units keep it cool enough, but this baby (Moi) runs hot and dreams of days of central air at my babysitters and in GrandparentTown. Nonetheless, it is almost over and I am super psyched for fall, which will include Dad being gone on weekends hunting, steelhead fishing, and being the Renaissance man that makes me think he is the bee’s knees. It should be good bonding time for Mommy and me. Fall also includes my birthday in November, so remember these wise words when getting ready to party: you gotta get up to get down.

The last few months have been busy. My Uncle Matt Rose and his family rolled down from Philly to spend the 4th of July with us, including Aunt Liz and their two sons Owen and Riley. We had a lot of fun and from what I saw; a lot of beer and hot dogs were consumed. I also saw a pretty large fire in the fire pit, something Mom and Matt’s wife Liz attributed to Matt and Dad being 10-year old boys. Prego Michelle and Benn, aka Banjo Steve, spent most of the weekend with us too. It was great for my dad to have the band back together and he seems pretty excited for the VanOudenallens to have their baby/my future super friend. We all went to the Indian Hill parade for the 4th of July and saw a lot of cool stuff, including Dad’s next car, the Porsche Panamera. Apparently it is kid friendly due to four doors.

Other things going on over the past few months have included my friend Eli’s first birthday party which was a great time. I also tried swimming with my Grandma Parr and Aunt Laura, which I kind of liked, but am still not sure. Dad said we can’t get a swim club membership until next summer since I am so young and don’t really enjoy it (mom disagrees), so perhaps next summer my opinion of summer will change when I am at the pool every day.

As for me, important steps this summer include no actual steps, but visible teeth, my crawling motion ( I did a breakdancing windmill on the kitchen floor), my first four hour car ride to Evansville, Indiana for the Burckle family reunion, and yesterday, I pulled myself up off the ground on an ottoman and stood for 4 seconds before falling down. Not bad for an 8 ½ month old little baby.

At the end of August, Dad is flying to Boston on business and Mommy and I are flying along with him and then driving up to Old Orchard Beach, Maine for my first vacation. When Dad is finished in Boston after a week, he is driving up to Maine to spend Labor Day with us before we head home. I am really excited to go to the beach and bust out my super slick bathing suit; though I won’t be doing much swimming due to the cold temps. I hope my Dad doesn’t stroke out from too much chowder and lobster. I myself am going to crush some fresh blueberries like nobody’s business.

Ok, the creative well is running dry. Check out my pictures and let me know how I am doing. I’ll keep you posted as I keep learning and growing and doing new things. One more thing I can promise to do is keep representing the Clifton Gaslight and doing my best to be a patriot and a scholar.

Stay Golden Pony Boys,

Camilla Ainsley

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Hello Friends,

Sorry for the long delay since my last blog entry, but things have been hectic to say the least. I must say, those silly overachievers in the E*Trade commercials make it look so simple for us babies to up and work on computers. Day trading is one thing, but writing eloquent prose is entirely another monster, especially considering I am just now figuring out how to use my opposable thumbs.

My last entry was in February, a time filled with Valentines, my wonderful Baptism with my cousin Matthew, and Mom and Dad waiting optimistically for crocus to emerge. I saw some snow, had some laughs, and spent a whole lotta time with my new friends Oliver and Marilynn, who hang out with me at my daysitter Judy’s house. The cool thing is that my dad went to high school with Oliver’s parents, Mimi Cooper and David Gerwin, as well as Mimi’s sister Sarah. Chilling at daycare has been a treat to say the least.

In March, I went on a roadtrip to see my Uncle Eric and Aunt Diana, and cousins Connor and Matthew. And we celebrated GiGi’s 90th Birthday!

Before I say more, I would be remised if I didn’t mention a January visit from my Dad’s life homie Matt Rose and his family. They drove down to see us for an evening and I had a tremendous time. I will post some pictures from their visit in this entry, noting however, that photos just didn’t quite capture the awesomeness of meeting Matt, Liz, Owen and Riley for the first time. We all went out to dinner, joined by the Metcalf-VanOudenallens, and had a riot. Apparently, the Rose boys love to eat hot dogs.

Over the past few months I have had a series of milestones. I had my first serious belly laugh, made efforts to sit up on my own, started holding a rattle and much, much more. Just yesterday, I sat in my high chair for the first time and am excited to start eating some rice cereal in the coming weeks. Dad is convinced that rice cereal is ghetto Cream of Wheat, but what does he know.

Easter was this past weekend and I got dressed up like a rock star, or rather, a Christian rock star. I went to church with my parents and Grandma and Grandpa Burckle and got to sit next to my Aunt Andrea and good buddy Chase Glassmeyer. Chase and I held hands during the sermon which made some hearts well up for sure. As usual I bring the cuteness. In speaking of cuteness, I had my first professional pictures taken and to be quite frank, I looked pretty darn cute. Add my Cincinnati Reds onesie to the mix and my adorability has been on overload.

I am really enjoying this lovely spring weather and can’t wait to visit the Zoo in the coming months. See you later Alligators!

New Year; Good Times

Well Team, I would like to apologize for the long delay since my last blog entry. Things have been quite hectic since then; with Holidays abound, not to mention renovation on the house, Mom going back to work, and much more.
We celebrated our first Christmas together, which was fantastically splendid. We were able to balance time between both grandparents and most of my extended family, including Aunts and Uncles, cousins, Great Grandparents, 2nd and 3rd cousins, and others. Mom dressed me up in a pretty fancy outfit on Christmas, which was a gift from our friends Greg and Amy Hocevar. Not to brag, but I looked amazing. I got to meet Santa, as he made a stop at Grandma and Grandpa Parr’s house. I did not get what I asked for, however, which was for people to stop mentioning my cheeks and how cute they are. Don't you think I know I'm adorable? Actually, keep the compliments coming....thanks!
After the excitement of Christmas, Dad went into a food coma for about a week and recovered just in time for New Year’s Eve. Mom and Dad had some friends over, Joe Meinking and his girlfriend Christina as well as the Longcamps, Amy and Kyle. Amy and Kyle brought their son Henry, who is a little bit older than me, to the suare. Henry tried to throw some game at me, but Mom has taught me to be a lady and thus, his charm was rejected. He sure is cute though! The adults all went to Tinks for dinner while Henry and I spent two hours or so at Grandma and Grandpa Burckle’s. Dad saw some famous guy at dinner, who he described as a chauncebucket, who apparently was in the band 98 Degrees. For the record, Dad has already banned all boy band music in the house for as long as I live under his roof. I like Reggae and Bluegrass anyway; my favorite CD is Ziggy Marley, Family Time. The night ended back at home with the adults drinking from green bottles and a cork almost breaking a window. Good times were held by all, including Kenai who got a little bit of the bubbly.
After the holidays, my parents were busy doing a lot of stuff with me. Dad got a new car since he felt the Range Rover wasn’t safe enough for me. He kept the old Rover though and said it will be for hunting and fishing trips, whatever those are. Mom continues to take me on adventures to places like Jungle Jims, Babies r Us, Petsmart, out to lunch with her friends, and all kinds of other strange places. I saw the doctor for my two month check up and got four shots which hurt like heck and made me sick for about two days. The doctor said I was uber-healthy and will likely end up as a diplomat or a professional soccer player; both of which are acceptable careers per my Dad. I am now on a pretty regular eating schedule, and am sleeping through the night…I know mom and dad are happy about that!!
And This Just In:
I started daycare this week. I am going to see a really nice lady named Judy in Norwood. She takes care of two other kids in her house, Oliver and Marilyn, who are cousins. As it turns out, Oscar’s Mom and Dad went to high school with my Dad, so I feel good being in an environment with people that we know. Judy has two dogs, which are nice, but not nearly as cool as my dogs Kenai and Alyeska. Mom and dad were really sad the first day they dropped me off…I could tell because mom had tears in her eyes. But I had so much fun with the other kids and was smiling and laughing all day, so I know they feel better. On Fridays I will go to Grandma and Grandpa Burckle’s to hang out. Did I mention I will be spoiled!!

After awhile Crocodiles!
